Three months before is a good time to start preparing for your skin. This is enough time to understand your skin, introduce relevant products, treat any specific concerns and see how your skin responds when the wedding is too close.

The first step is to consult a dermatologist. Every concern be it acne, pigmentation, uneven texture, tanning, sensitivity and hair concerns they all need an approach and a routine that works smoothly for one bride may not suit another bride, shares Dr. Hina Kukreja, Medical Director, Zurie Skin Clinic.

Retinoids for example, can cause irritation when introduced too quickly, so they are best started gradually rather than immediately before an important event. The advantage of starting three months early is that you have time to find what your skin tolerates. This is not the correct time to start a ten-step skincare routine. Introducing multiple strong activities together, aggressive exfoliation, frequent at-home peels or products that you have never used before should be avoided. Irritation is undesirable in the leading wedding months, especially in pigmentation prone skin. It is probably one of the best times to start.

Three months before the wedding is not too early.
