If you like Zara, there’s a good chance Lefties is about to become your new favourite.

The Spanish fashion label has been getting a lot more attention lately, and it’s easy to see why. Lefties is part of the same Inditex family as Zara, but its whole approach is a little different. The clothes tend to be more affordable, casual and trend-focused, making the brand especially appealing to shoppers who want the look without spending as much. The brand was originally created as an outlet concept for Zara, selling leftover stock at lower prices. Over time, though, it developed into a standalone fashion brand with its own identity, collections and stores. Its collections cover women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, along with shoes, accessories, sportswear and other everyday items. Lefties generally sits below Zara in price, giving shoppers a way to experiment with trends without making quite as big a dent in their wallets. That combination of affordability and fashion-led designs has helped the brand build a following beyond its original outlet roots. But there’s another reason people are paying attention: the brand feels like a glimpse into where affordable fashion could be heading. Zara has built its reputation around quickly responding to trends, while Lefties takes a similar fashion-first approach at an even lower price point. Still, the rise of Lefties comes with the same questions that surround much of the fast-fashion industry – particularly around how clothes are produced, how long they last and what happens to them once shoppers are done wearing them.

Today, Lefties sells much more than basic discounted Zara pieces.
