Alia Bhatt has been on a bit of a fashion roll lately. And her latest Mumbai appearance is another example of why she can make a statement without looking like she tried too hard. This time, the actor stepped out in a soft butter-yellow vintage Givenchy look, but it was the giant bow at her waist that immediately grabbed attention.
Alia wore a butter-yellow cotton top and matching mini skirt from Givenchy for Alexander McQueen’s 1997 couture collection. The outfit also comes just after Alia walked for Manish Malhotra’s Mijwan show alongside Vicky Kaushal. this one felt much more pared back While that appearance was all about the drama of the runway. The fitted top came with long sleeves, sharp notched lapels and a deep neckline, giving the pretty pastel shade a more structured, almost tailored feel. Oversized and sitting right at the waist, it was impossible to miss. It gave the fitted top some volume and turned what could have been a fairly straightforward skirt-and-top combination into something much more interesting. The gathered detailing around the waist also added a softer touch to the otherwise sharp tailoring. The matching mini skirt kept the look neat and fitted, with subtle ruching adding a little texture. There was no need for much else. Alia seemed to know that, too. She carried a glossy black clutch, which broke up the pale yellow and made the vintage outfit feel less like a look pulled straight from an archive and more like something you’d actually see on a modern red carpet. Her jewellery was kept small and simple. Tiny gold earrings and a few delicate rings were enough to add some shine without fighting for attention with the bow. The beauty look was equally unfussy. Alia wore glowing, natural-looking makeup with softly defined eyes, a touch of blush and a muted nude-pink lip. Her hair was pulled back into a sleek, centre-parted bun, which worked particularly well with the sharp neckline and tailored shoulders. What makes the outfit work is that it doesn’t try to do too much. The colour is soft, the styling is clean, and then that enormous bow comes in and changes the whole mood. A little vintage, a little playful and very Alia.
