Kangana Ranaut has always been daring in her approach to fashion, and in her most recent saree portrayal, she has proven her boldness once again. Wrapped in her very first hand-crafted Meghalayan Ahimsa silk saree, the actress traded the predictable designer look for a far more intriguing touch. Picking traditional craftsmanship, with environmentally friendly luxury and a subtle touch of sophistication, this handmade texture of the silk proved that an expensive appearance is the one that requires the least effort.
This beautiful look took around 2.5 months to make. Kangana chose the drape from the label Taara Vedaa, which was available in the shades of iron dust and pomegranate, featuring a naturally dyed purple side. Crafted from Eri silk, also known as Ahimsa silk, the fabric is known for its durability, and it is made from the Philosamia ricini moth, which is found in the Northeast region of India. Adding a statement pearl-inspired neck piece with matching earrings and a subtle stack of bangles, Kangana made sure to keep the entire focus on her six yards of grace. Ahimsa silk, also known as peace silk, is created without the intention of killing the worms. In most silk production processes, cocoons are harvested while the worm is still in them. Once harvested, the cocoons are boiled to extract the thread.
