Jenner had Kendall at the age of 40. She said she experienced severe gestational diabetes and gained around 100 pounds. Jenner welcomed Kylie at 41, after having four older children.

Jenner said her eldest daughter, Kourtney, introduced her to the realities of motherhood.

“Kourtney taught me probably how to be a mom,” Jenner told Shetty. “And you would do anything to make her life better and have her feel better,” she said. Despite the challenges, Jenner said the experience did not put her off having more children. “Kim taught me multitasking,” she said, prompting laughter during the conversation. “Khloe united everybody and taught me a lot about how grateful I was for humour because she was so funny,” Jenner said. Jenner described her son, Rob Kardashian, as “a joy”. “They were praying for a boy from day one,” Jenner said, recalling how relatives had repeatedly expressed their wish for a son. “It was so joyful, and it was like New Year’s Eve, you know, and it was a celebration,” Jenner said. “It taught me a lot about their culture and how to celebrate on another level,” she said. She said the experience made her appreciate pregnancy differently and recognise that having a child was not easy for everyone. It taught me a lot about being healthy and making healthy choices,” she said. “Kylie taught me a lot about being grateful and having gratitude for all of my children,” she said. “I thought, ‘Wow, I’m so grateful that this had been my journey,’” she added.

Kourtney was a colicky baby, and Jenner recalled the long nights spent trying to make her comfortable. She remembered how difficult it was to see her baby struggle with an upset stomach for months. For Jenner, each child brought a different experience of motherhood. Jenner had a different lesson to associate with each of her next children. Khloe, meanwhile, taught her to appreciate humour and its role in bringing people together. When Rob was born, she remembered her in-laws celebrating the occasion. His birth was also a particularly significant moment for her former husband, Robert Kardashian Sr., and his Armenian family, who had hoped for a boy. Her mother-in-law even arrived at the hospital with a diamond brooch as a gift. Rob’s arrival also brought Armenian traditions more visibly into the household. Jenner recalled relatives preparing traditional meals and trying to teach the children some Armenian, although they did not become fluent. Kylie and Kris together. Jenner’s pregnancy with Kylie brought further challenges. “It taught me a lot about patience. At the time, she also had friends in their 40s who were struggling with infertility. Seeing their experiences alongside her own made her reflect on how fortunate she felt to have had six children. 5 Oct 2026 | 12:06 Jenner said her experience of pregnancy changed before she welcomed Kendall.

“Kendall, I think, taught me a lot about patience and serenity because I had two miscarriages before I had Kendall,” she said. Kris Jenner has spent decades raising six children, but each of them has taught her something different about motherhood. In a podcast conversation with Jay Shetty, the reality television star and businesswoman reflected on the challenges of raising her children, the lessons she learnt from difficult pregnancies and how becoming a mother later in life made her more grateful for her family. From Kourtney Kardashian’s difficult early months to the patience she developed after experiencing miscarriages before Kendall Jenner’s birth, Jenner described how her experiences changed with each child. “You think you’re invincible. I’m just going to pop out another baby, and then you don’t, and it becomes a bit of a struggle,” she added.

She had experienced two miscarriages, which challenged her earlier assumption that having another child would be straightforward.
