The concert will revisit songs from Ghai’s cinematic catalogue through contemporary arrangements and a 70-member live orchestra. Music from films including Karz , Hero , Ram Lakhan , Khalnayak , Pardes , Taal and Yaadein will be presented as part of the production. The evening will also bring together singers, actors and personalities associated with Ghai’s films, with the format combining live performances with conversations and anecdotes about the making of the films and their music. The concert is designed to connect audiences who grew up with these soundtracks with a younger generation discovering them anew. The title Kya Zamaana Tha takes its name from the opening lines of the iconic song ‘Ek Haseena Thi’ from Karz — “Kya umar thi, kya samaa tha, kya zamaana tha… Kya Zamaana Tha is not just a concert; it is the birth of a landmark, world-class entertainment IP that sets a new gold standard for the live industry in India. Subhash Ghai ji’s cinematic universe holds an unprecedented generational pull, and by bringing in a musical powerhouse like Mithoon to structurally dismantle and rebuild these masterworks, we are creating a production will serve as an uncompressed analog revival.
