Fresh off a Korean film set, Anushka Sen talks about her experience as a Gen Z artiste abroad and her hopes for a Korean-Bollywood crossover. ‘I’ve had a dream to be part of a K-drama as the lead’
Because acting can’t be rushed, at the same time, it never felt like there was pressure on the actors. Because we’ve all seen the Korean wave, and I think it’s more than just a wave now, reflecting on the collaboration, she shares, “I think right now is a great time for a film like Jeju Olle.
‘It’s important to stay open to learning from others’ Ask if she feels her generation is viewed as unserious, and she says, “I don’t think we are unserious or lack commitment. Anushka recently made history as the first Indian actress to lead a South Korean feature film, titled Jeju Olle. Talking about the experience, she shares, “Every single day, I saw how strategic and organised they were. They’re very particular about timings and being on schedule. Everything was so well planned that the artists had enough time to prepare and never felt hurried. ” Her role in Jeju Olle was a dream come true in many ways. “When I saw my first K-drama, I absolutely fell in love with it. I fell in love with the way they show emotions and create these beautiful K-drama moments. From being a child actor and digital creator to doing something as big as a Korean film – I’ve always been focused on growing and improving myself. She also insists that people like her have brought a different approach to film sets. “As digital creators, we’ve grown up in a fast-changing world, and I’m used to being involved in the creative process, experimenting with new ideas, connecting with different people and understanding different perspectives. But when I’m on a film set, I also keep in mind how important teamwork and respecting other’s ideas are. I think it’s about being open to learning from different perspectives while also bringing new and fresh ideas to the table. ” ‘I wish for a Korean-Bollywood crossover’ For Anushka, a project like Jeju Olle couldn’t come at a better time. Everybody loves K-dramas, and personally, I’m a huge fan. At the same time, so many people across the world love Bollywood. The way we make our films and the elements we bring to our cinema are completely different from the rest of the world. I think there can be many more collaborations like this, and I would love to explore this journey further. I think Jeju Olle is just the start, and it’s a great start. India has so much to offer, and Korea has so much to offer. Together, we can create something nobody has ever thought of before and truly surprise everyone. So I would truly wish for a Korean-Bollywood crossover. You use AI every day. Now get your AI Quotient. Take the AIQ test Get the latest Lifestyle News and more. Download the TOI app.
