From a first melody in Mumbai to a song for the world: OutStation receives sentimental with ‘Kuch

The five-member Gen Z boyband has released ‘Kuch To Hai Yahan’, the first track the members created together after moving to Mumbai, and one that has since evolved alongside their journey as a band. India’s rising pop act OutStation is turning the spotlight on a song that goes back to where it all began.

The band also gave fans — affectionately known as ‘Passengers’ — a sneak peek during their recent 10-city tour. After viral appearances and a sold-out Friendship Day headline show in Mumbai, the band recently wrapped its 10-city tour, where it previewed its upcoming EP, Homecoming. Because it’s the very first track we ever created together when we moved into Mumbai, “Kuch To Hai Yahan is incredibly special to us.

Released via Visva Records, the song leans into the uncertainty of unspoken feelings — that hazy space between wondering if something is real or simply imagined.

“Over more than a year we kept tinkering with it, changing bits here and there until we finally arrived at this version we’re so happy with,” they say. “Seeing the Passengers connect with our journey has been surreal,” they add, describing the song as “a piece of our brotherhood”. Wistful yet hopeful, the cinematic track combines a sense of romance with a touch of adventure, while its music video takes the story into an atmospheric, almost dreamlike world. For Bhuvan Shetty, Hemang Singh, Mashaal Shaikh, Kurien Sebastian and Shayan Pattem, however, the song is as much about their own story as it is about romance. What began with a chorus melody someone casually hummed eventually became a year-long project, with the band continually revisiting and reshaping it. The release comes at a busy moment for OutStation, who have been steadily building a following across India’s independent music circuit. Mentored by songwriter and producer Savan Kotecha, the group has crossed 860K monthly listeners on Spotify , alongside 274K Instagram followers and 95K YouTube subscribers. And with ‘Kuch To Hai Yahan’, OutStation is offering fans a song that takes them right back to the beginning. Looking for trusted parenting advice?
