NetEase Games and Naked Rain have finally announced the release date for Ananta, and the game is now set to release worldwide on January 15, 2027. The release date was essentially confirmed during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. The announcement comes after years of delays and development, making the January 2027 launch date one of the most anticipated reveals of Gamescom. Ananta will be available on PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile devices.
The developers also released a brand-new trailer, giving fans a detailed look at the game. It is worth noting that an Xbox version has not been confirmed at this time, making PS5 the only console platform that the game will be launching on. The recent Gamescom ONL trailer also confirmed that the game will feature flying cars, adding yet another layer to what is already shaping up to be one of the most mechanically ambitious free-to-play games ever made.
PC players can access the game either through Ananta’s official PC client or through Steam. Ananta is going to be a massive open-world game. You can expect it to feature guns, car chases, hand-to-hand combat, Spider-Man-like web-slinging, and more fun mechanics. Besides the fun gameplay mechanics, you will also be able to find customisation for the many different characters in the game, going all the way to the clothes they wear. The community has already started calling Ananta an anime version of Grand Theft Auto, and it is quite an accurate description of the same. Coming to the gacha aspect, the game will not feature a gacha system for characters. Instead, there will be cosmetic purchases available, and you will be able to purchase things like skins. This separates it from all the other open-world gacha games currently prevalent in the gaming community.
Ananta, previously known as Project Mugen, is a free-to-play open-world role-playing game developed by the Hangzhou-based studio Naked Rain and published by NetEase Games Montreal.
