Cooper Flagg left the Dallas Mavericks’ 121-105 win over the Indiana Pacers on Friday night after a hard foul sent him crashing to the floor in Indianapolis. Aaron Nesmith was called for a flagrant 1 while trying to stop a breakaway dunk, and a scuffle followed. He had 14 points in 17 minutes before it happened. The foul was ruled a flagrant 1.

May said Flagg will be evaluated over the next couple of days, and he saw the forward in the locker room in good spirits. “We’ll know in the next couple days what’s next,” he said. Flagg landed on his left shoulder and did not play the second half. The team is calling it soreness. Coach Dusty May could not say whether an MRI is coming, only that Dallas would know more in a couple of days. Cooper Flagg had just stolen the ball and was heading the other way for a dunk. Pacers’ Aaron Nesmith chased from behind and tried to block the attempt, and Dallas’ reigning Rookie of the Year came down awkwardly on the same shoulder he injured as a rookie. The Mavericks list the injury as left shoulder soreness. On the MRI question, May did not commit.
