Enes Kanter Freedom went looking for a moment, and he got one, maybe not the kind he wanted. The former NBA center’s latest push to insert himself into the WNBA’s transgender-athlete debate ended in an on-court shouting match, an ejection, and a public rebuke from Robert Griffin III, who called the whole thing “lame. ” Freedom showed up to Sunday’s Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever game wearing a shirt reading “Woman, noun. Adult human,” and stood inches from the court during the national anthem. He kept the stunt going at halftime, posting a photo of himself outside a women’s restroom captioned “It’s halftime and I need to use the restroom… Rules are rules.”

He’d earlier declared, alongside former NBA player Royce White, that he now “identifies as a woman” and plans to enter the 2027 WNBA Draft, part of an ongoing campaign tied to the league’s stance on transgender athletes. “insanely pathetic,” while columnist Jason Page went further, calling Freedom “the saddest excuse for an adult male that I have ever seen” and accusing him of being irrelevant until he decided to “troll the WNBA. Freedom didn’t back down afterward, posting: “I just got kicked out of a WNBA game for supporting WOMEN! Let that sink in, AMERICA! It’s always women hating on other women. Whatever Freedom’s intentions, this latest chapter did more to fuel the noise around the league than settle anything, and it’s left even fellow athletes questioning whether his methods are helping the cause he claims to champion.
