Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Instagram post from Friday showed him and his new teammates out cruising “with Captain Klay” behind the wheel. After a couple of rough seasons in Golden State and Dallas, he said the chance to play meaningful basketball again and chase a deep playoff run is what pulled him to Miami. He’d said much the same on a Twitch stream earlier that month, admitting he wants another shot at a title even if it isn’t guaranteed. “Giannis is one of the best players of all time,” Thompson said, adding that Antetokounmpo’s interior scoring ranks among the best he’s ever seen and that defenses can no longer sag off his jump shot the way they used to.
