The Knicks guard, fresh off a $24 million contract extension and an NBA championship run, was working the photo pit at Arthur Ashe Stadium, camera in hand, snapping shots of Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro’s quarterfinal. Landry Shamet, who signed his four-year, $24 million deal with New York in 2026 after helping the Knicks win their first title in 53 years, was seen in a branded black shirt, green pants, and a backwards cap, fully locked into the match he was shooting. He first picked up this gig back in 2024, shortly after joining the Knicks, working unpaid for the USTA during the tournament’s opening week.

Landry Shamet spent Tuesday night at the US Open, but he wasn’t there to watch tennis. For context, it’s not a one-time stunt. Shamet has quietly built a side gig behind the lens at Flushing Meadows, and this marks his third straight year doing it, still without a paycheck. Fans online can’t quite process an NBA champion showing up to work an unpaid job less than two months before his own season starts. He impressed enough to get invited back for the final weekend the following year, and now he’s a regular fixture in the pit.
