The Spurs enter the game with a 27-11 record and sit second in the Western Conference. Wembanyama has been central to that run, averaging 24.1 points and 11.3 rebounds while anchoring the defense. If he does not play, San Antonio will need to rely more on its depth against a Timberwolves team that is 14-6 at home.
The Spurs have already ruled out Devin Vassell due to an adductor injury, which limits their options on the wing. Victor Wembanyama hurt his left knee late against the Knicks and did not return. Early concern led to further testing, but an MRI showed no ligament damage. That result ruled out a serious injury, though the Spurs chose not to rush him back. He was held out of games against the Indiana Pacers and Portland Trail Blazers and listed as day-to-day. Wembanyama later returned against the Memphis Grizzlies with a minutes restriction, giving the team a limited look at him while continuing to manage the knee. For Sunday’s game in Minnesota, Wembanyama remains questionable.
