Forbes valued the Kansas City Current at $325 million in 2026, placing it among the most valuable teams in the league. “I signed up for this, and I’m going to go out there and play football.
“Hopefully I’m done with questions about the leg,” Mahomes said as he walked away from the podium. “I’m going to keep myself out of harm’s way like I always will, not try to take big hits and stuff like that, but I’m a competitor,” Mahomes said. Looking back on the recovery before his return, Mahomes described the process as demanding but said he was ready for the next stage.
His investment made him the first active NFL player to hold an ownership stake in an NWSL team. The club’s rising value has added another layer to the story. The development came just before Patrick Mahomes ended his long wait to return to NFL action. The Chiefs quarterback had spent months recovering from ACL and LCL injuries in his left knee after suffering the injuries against the Los Angeles Chargers in December.
