At 37, the veteran tight end continues to deliver on the field, even after considering retirement during the offseason. The Chiefs opened the season 4-0, with Kelce playing a key role in their passing game. Through the opening four games, he recorded 16 receptions for 246 yards and two touchdowns, leading Kansas City in both catches and receiving yards. Entering Week 5, he led the NFL with 537 rushing yards and was on pace for a potential 2,000-yard season.
“Yeah, definitely,” said Walker on if Kelce can play another few years. “They know what it takes to win, and they’re both two great competitors,” said Walker. “We’re going to need them this season.”
Travis Kelce has given the Kansas City Chiefs another reason to believe they can make a deep playoff run. Now, new teammate Kenneth Walker has shared his thoughts on Kelce’s future, and his assessment could interest Chiefs fans hoping to see the tight end stay in the NFL beyond this season. Walker has watched Kelce work behind the scenes since joining Kansas City and believes the veteran still has plenty to offer. His comments also highlight the work that goes into maintaining a long career. His decision has paid off so far. “I feel like that goes to show how he takes care care of his body as well. I even seen him in the off season the way he was working in the training room and making sure his body was good before practices and everything. He’s playing at a high level too. Walker’s observations offer a glimpse into the work that fans rarely see. Kelce’s experience and preparation remain important assets as the Chiefs pursue another championship. Walker has made an immediate impact in Kansas City himself. His strong start has added another dimension to the Chiefs’ offense.
Walker said both veterans made him feel welcome after his arrival and helped him understand the team’s culture. “Yeah, a big impact, honestly,” said Walker. “When I first got here, they welcomed me with open arms and just seeing what type of people they are off the field, they always want to help in the community and everything. They want to be together as a team, and I feel like that creates that bond that you need to be able to be successful and go to where you want to be at the end of the season.”
