How Dak Prescott built his $295 million wealth: Inside the Cowboys quarterback’s business empire beyond football

The Cowboys signed him to a four-year, $160 million contract in 2021, giving him one of the largest deals of his career at that point. In 2024, he agreed to another four-year extension worth $240 million, including $231 million guaranteed and an $80 million signing bonus. OverTheCap lists his career NFL earnings at more than $295 million.

Dak Prescott has made most of his money from football, but the Dallas Cowboys quarterback has also spent years building a business portfolio away from the NFL. His earnings from massive contracts have given him a strong financial base, while his investments have taken him into restaurants, fitness technology, beverages, truck accessories and sports education. Together, these moves show how Prescott has looked beyond his career on the football field and started building a business empire of his own. Prescott’s NFL career remains the biggest part of his wealth.

In 2022, RealTruck said Prescott and other professional athletes had invested in the company through Patricof Co. Prescott invested in IMG Academy in November 2023, according to Bloomberg reporting cited by Yahoo Sports. With more than $295 million in documented NFL earnings and investments spread across several industries, Prescott’s financial story goes beyond his Cowboys salary.

Prescott’s investments have also taken him into businesses that have little connection to the restaurant or fitness industries. One example is RealTruck, an online retailer that sells truck accessories and customization products. Prescott was also named to the company’s strategic advisory team, giving him a role beyond simply putting money into the business. His portfolio later expanded into sports education. IMG Academy is known for its sports training and education programs, making the investment another way for Prescott to stay connected to the sports world while building wealth outside the NFL. His business interests have allowed him to build ownership positions in different types of companies while continuing to earn money from the sport that made him famous.
