Patrick Mahomes’ retirement timeline takes a surprising turn as Chiefs trainer reveals his 10 Super Bowl goal
His longtime trainer, Jeff Christensen, says the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback once told him that he would consider retiring after winning 10 Super Bowls. Mahomes has already won three championships, but according to Christensen, his focus remains on becoming the greatest quarterback in NFL history rather than making more money. Mahomes has already won three Super Bowls with Kansas City and earned three Super Bowl MVP awards.
Patrick Mahomes has a big goal for his NFL career, and it could decide when he finally walks away from football. His first championship came in Super Bowl LIV, when the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers. He later led Kansas City to further titles, building a record that puts him among the most successful quarterbacks of his era.

Christensen also remembered telling Mahomes in July 2017 that he had the ability to become the greatest quarterback ever.
He said he saw something special in the young player and later shared that view with Matt Kafka before the Chiefs traded Alex Smith.
“Stuff like that doesn’t really bother me because I’m so in the moment, in the team,” Mahomes said. “You have to be able to have tough conversations so that you can have better conversations going forward,” he said. However, his latest career goal comes as Kansas City works through challenges on the field. Mahomes recently addressed reports of a disagreement with offensive lineman Josh Simmons during a team meeting with head coach Andy Reid. “We’ve had the right conversations now. We’re moving in the right direction. Mahomes also explained why difficult discussions can matter inside a team.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, he said the situation had not taken his attention away from the team’s work.
