City Harvest in New York confirmed a $1 million donation, which CEO Jilly Stephens said would help provide food to more than 2.4 million residents during the summer. The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank received another $1 million contribution, expected to fund approximately four million meals.
“As soon as we got the call, a couple of our staff had a moment of disbelief and we were speechless,” she told PEOPLE. Meanwhile, Harvesters in Kansas City said its donation could provide around two million meals. The Grammy Museum Foundation said the contribution would strengthen its Grammy In The Schools programme, bringing music education to thousands of young people.
