A few months ago, the 36 year old star player Travis Kelce became a minority owner in the popular MLB team, the Cleveland Guardians. As per CNBC’s MLB Team Valuations, the Cleveland Guardians franchise has an estimated value of $1.55 billion. As per CNBC, in the last year, the Cleveland Guardians’ EBITDA was an estimated $33 million, as it ranked 13th in the league alongside the Tampa Bay Rays.
In an interview with ESPN, Travis Kelce had reflected on his passion for the franchise as he said, “I have so much love for this city…I say it all the time: I’m just a kid from the Heights living the dream. Travis Kelce also opened up about his love for baseball as he said, “There was nothing like Cleveland baseball in the ’90s…That’s just a core memory for me. it seems this investment has been pretty profitable for Travis Kelce While it has not been made public how much he invested into the team or the percentage of stake he acquired. I credit every good thing in my life to Cleveland and being raised here with the values and the people and the work ethic. Cleveland Heights is such a diverse and dynamic place. Travis Kelce continued, “I’ve been lucky enough to have a front-row seat to good ownership in my career, and I know the best teams prioritize culture. Everyone is there to play their role, and right now, I’m here to observe and learn and really to support the team and the city when and where I can. Kenny Lofton, Carlos Baerga, Jim Thome, Sandy Alomar Jr., the list goes on, and I admire how they just continue to pour into this city and this game. It’s something that resonates with me, giving back to the places and the people that gave so much to you.”
