Patrick Mahomes, the three time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player and the top quarterback in the league, recorded 3,587 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions across 14 games in the 2025 NFL regular season before he tore his ACL and LCL.
A few hours ago, as per Pete Sweeney of The Kansas City Star, the Kansas City Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid opened up about Patrick Mahomes’ situation as he said, “He’s doing great…” The popular head coach added, “We’ll just see. In an interview, he said, “I really wanted to play, but they would not let me. With a brutal run on the field in the last season, the Kansas City Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid has weighed in on Patrick Mahomes’ availability for the season opener against the Denver Broncos. I’m literally taking it day by day. There are no predictions here on anything. But if the doctors and the trainers and everybody that are involved with this give him an OK — and then most of all, if he feels like he can, then we’ll address that when we get there. The Kansas City Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid continued, “But other than that, these other guys are playing quarterback and doing a nice job with it. I’ll be trying to play next week, but at the end of the day it’s up to Coach Reid.”
