Speaking in an interview, Cena stated about his fear, “I got to face a lot of my fears and do a lot of things that I’m uncomfortable with, and I think my fear of heights stems from falling down most of my life in the WWE and knowing like a fall that is gonna hurt and a fall that is gonna injure and the fall that it’s gonna be greater than that. So I hadn’t been able to tackle that fear. I was still very scared in doing all that stuff. Further, Cena took the director into confidence and credited Matchbox director and stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave for helping him confront that fear. Hargrave, who has extensive experience as a performer and stunt professional, encouraged Cena to perform as many of the stunts himself as possible while assuring him that proper safety measures were in place.
