Sting officially retired from wrestling in March 2024 after defending the AEW World Tag Team Championship with Darby Allin at AEW Revolution. Sting has an estimated net worth of $8 million (per celebrity net worth). His major breakthrough came in 1988 when he challenged NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair at the first Clash of the Champions. Their 45-minute match ended in a draw, but Sting’s performance established him as a future main-event star. Sting defeated Flair in 1990 to win his first NWA World Heavyweight Championship. He won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship four times and was inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame in 2012. Sting’s WWE career ended after a serious neck injury suffered during his 2015 match against Seth Rollins. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016. In 2024, Sting announced his final match. Sting retired at age 64 with a perfect 29-0 AEW record.
Sting won world championships in the NWA, WCW, WWA, TNA and AEW. He also enjoyed a successful run in WWE before making a remarkable late-career comeback in AEW. His wealth has come from professional wrestling, championship success, merchandise, licensing, television appearances and other entertainment work. Their rivalry continued for years and became one of the defining feuds of Sting’s career. After WCW closed, Sting eventually became a major star in TNA Wrestling. He and Allin defeated the Young Bucks at AEW Revolution to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
