Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve players must install and launch the main game to access Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, which is included as a pre-order bonus. Because ace Combat 8 requires at least 150GB of free storage, while The Belkan War can be launched separately on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the arrangement has drawn criticism.

Project Aces said it is reviewing player feedback and discussing possible alternatives with its platform partners. Project Aces has apologised for a recent Steam issue. However, the developer cautioned that “At this time, we cannot guarantee that any changes will be made. The team also clarified that any potential change to the Steam launch method would not mean Ace Combat Zero becomes available as a separate purchase. Licensing restrictions are among the reasons the game is currently limited to the pre-order bonus arrangement.

Due to licensing restrictions and platform-related considerations, it cannot currently be released on Steam as a standalone application. As a result, we have chosen to make ACE COMBAT ZERO available through ACE COMBAT™ 8: WINGS OF THEVE. ACE COMBAT ZERO is offered as a pre-order bonus.
