28-year-old behind Rydox website pleads guilty; platform used to buy, sell and trade stolen date; FBI seizes domain
Ardit Kutleshi, 28, a Kosovar national, admitted to charges linked to creating and operating the illicit marketplace. Rydox carried out more than 7,600 transactions since at least 2016 involving stolen personal information, access devices, identification documents and cybercrime tools and services, according to US court documents. The marketplace generated at least $232,000 in revenue, with transactions involving personal information stolen from victims in the US.
In a press release, FBI Assistant Director Brett Leatherman said: The man behind Rydox, an online marketplace used by cybercriminals to buy and sell stolen personal information and tools, has pleaded guilty in the United States.
Rydox allowed cybercriminals to buy, sell and trade stolen personally identifiable information (PII), stolen access devices and other tools used for cybercrime and fraud, according to court documents. The transactions included the sale of personal information taken from victims in the United States.
