Apple has officially launched the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max globally, showcasing a notable evolution in both design and performance. Both models are equipped with Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, touted as the most powerful iPhone processor to date, delivering up to 40% improved sustained performance compared to earlier versions.
The iPhone 18 Pro features a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion technology, supporting refresh rates of up to 120Hz. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro Max boasts a larger 6.9-inch display with identical specifications.
A significant highlight of these new models is the upgraded camera system, which incorporates variable aperture technology. This innovation grants users enhanced control over their photography and videography, allowing for more creative flexibility in various lighting conditions.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max mark a fairly significant shift in Apple’s flagship design and performance approach this year. The chip features a six-core CPU paired with a 7-core GPU, with each GPU core equipped with dedicated neural accelerators for improved AI processing. On the display front, the iPhone 18 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR screen supporting ProMotion technology at up to 120Hz, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max steps up to a larger 6.9-inch display with the same specifications. Both screens are protected by Ceramic Shield 2. Notably, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max also debuts next-generation vapour chamber cooling system, the largest for Apple’s flagship lineup, designed to help sustain performance during particularly demanding tasks like gaming or heavy multitasking. Both devices run on iOS 27 out of the box, bringing a refined Liquid Glass interface design along with a range of Apple Intelligence features.
Both models are powered by Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, which the company describes as its most capable iPhone processor to date. This year, Apple has also shifted back to single-tone colour scheme for both Pro models, moving away from the two-tone design, featuring the same full-width camera plateau on the back. Camera-wise, both models feature a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 48MP main sensor, a 48MP ultrawide lens, and a 48MP telephoto lens. In a first, both these models come with variable aperture in the main camera.
