Mark Zuckerberg buys Gothic castle in Ireland,
Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan recently bought Strancally Castle in County Waterford, a sprawling 440 acre castle estate in Ireland that the couple will use as a home during their visits to the country, where Meta has its international headquarters. the Irish Times estimated the property’s value at between €20 million and €30 million While the price of the private deal has not been disclosed. The castle, which was built in 1830 for John Keily, a former Conservative Member of Parliament, is not Meta CEO’s first purchase. He holds five homes clustered together in Palo Alto’s Crescent Park neighbourhood, with a combined assessed value exceeding $36.2 million according to tax records. In 2016, he offered a rare glimpse inside one of these homes, which reportedly even features a custom-built AI assistant, according to CNBC. The property sits just a 10-minute drive from Meta’s headquarters in Menlo Park. Zuckerberg purchased his first home in Crescent Park back in May 2011 for $7 million. He later spent more than $43 million buying up the four homes surrounding this original property, according to The Wall Street Journal. He reportedly paid a combined $59 million for the two estates. Brushwood Estate spans 5,322 square feet and includes six bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms, according to a report by SF Gate. There is also a separate 2,293-square-foot guesthouse. Tax records value Brushwood Estate at over $39.68 million. Of this total, around 750 acres were reportedly bought in 2014 for approximately $100 million, including more than 350 acres along Pila’a Beach. A separate portion of his Hawaii holdings, spanning nearly 600 acres on Kauai’s North Shore, reportedly cost him around $53 million when purchased in 2021. The combined cost of acquiring the land and building this compound comes to an estimated $270 million, according to Wired.
His property portfolio already includes a survivalist-style, or ‘Doomsday’, bunker in Hawaii and a waterfront home in Miami. Here’s a look at everything else Zuckerberg owns. Zuckerberg owns multiple properties in Silicon Valley.
