Staples like Maharashtra’s steamed Ukadiche Modak, South India’s Kozhukattai and Andhra’s Kudumulu still remain the top choices on festival menus and heritage recipes continue to rule the search bars across the country. But the search queries show families are trying out alternative textures and fusion tastes.
Looking back over five years of search queries, Google identified eight modak recipes that have consistently captured the attention of home bakers and cooks. Beyond providing recipe lists, digital platforms are changing how cooks navigate kitchen challenges during the holiday rush. Home cooks can now use AI Mode directly within Google Search to find customised cooking advice. For instance, if a home chef is cooking without a traditional modak mould, the system provides adaptive follow-up prompts and detailed walkthroughs on how to shape the dumplings by hand.
