Fitbit Air Special Edition Pokémon Sleep: Sleepy Blue band, dozing Pikachu print, $129
Shipping starts September 15 through the Google Store and Target in the US. This is the same Fitbit Air Google put out in May at $99 (around Rs 8,700), same pop-out pebble with the heart rate sensor, same barely-there fit meant to survive a full night on the wrist. The $30 premium buys the band, a code for Pikachu Incense in the game, and three months of Google Health Premium, the renamed Fitbit Premium with its Gemini powered coach.
The Fitbit Air Special Edition Pokémon Sleep is up for preorder at $129, and comes in a “Sleepy Blue” band with a silk print of a dozing Pikachu. Google has a Fitbit built for people who take their naps seriously. The tracker itself hasn’t changed. The band isn’t sold separately, so anyone who already owns an Air can’t buy just the look. Link Google Health to Health Connect on Android or Apple Health on iOS, pair it inside Pokémon Sleep’s settings, and your duration and sleep stages sync each morning. The Sleep Score that comes out multiplies Snorlax’s Strength into Drowsy Power, which decides how many Pokémon turn up around your camp the next day and how rare their sleeping styles are. That loop isn’t exclusive to this device. Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch, Garmin trackers and Pixel Watch all already feed it, and the game still works with nothing more than a phone parked on the pillow. So the money mostly buys charm, and there’s a fair amount of it. Psyduck and Slowpoke sit on the flipside of the cover, a Mew hides on the wristband holder, and shipping lands a day before Pokémon’s 30th Celebration TCG set.
