Concerns Over Prison Conditions for Incarcerated Father
Kasim has raised alarm regarding the treatment of his father in prison, asserting that the family suspects he is being ‘slowly killed.’ The family fears that as international pressure diminishes, the restrictions imposed on him may intensify, worsening his situation further.
Concerns Raised Over Khan’s Medical Treatment
Sulaiman has voiced serious concerns regarding his father’s treatment while in custody, claiming that Imran Khan has been deprived of human contact, new reading materials, family visits, and access to an independent doctor. He highlighted that Khan’s eye condition has been neglected for months, potentially leading to significant vision loss in one eye.
These allegations emerge following a Supreme Court ruling last month, which mandated that Khan receive treatment for a blood clot in a retinal vein at a private hospital. His family reported that this condition has greatly impacted his vision in the right eye.
In response, the Pakistan government has dismissed Sulaiman’s claims as “fake propaganda,” asserting that Khan is being kept under satisfactory conditions. They stated that he has access to home-cooked meals, snacks, bottled water, exercise equipment, family visits, and regular medical check-ups.
The allegations come ahead of a Supreme Court ruling on Wednesday in a case alleging that the Pakistan government has failed to comply with a court order allowing Khan private hospital treatment for an eye condition and permitting family visits and communication.
