He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 19, according to Metropolitan police. The allegations relate to an incident involving a woman in January 2026. An Indian-origin Metropolitan Police officer is due to appear before a London court after being charged with attempted rape, sexual assault and intentional strangulation over alleged offences against a woman earlier this year. He was subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries. Police Constable Harman Singh, attached to the force’s North Area command unit, faces five charges: one count of attempted rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of intentional strangulation. Last month, another Indian-origin Metropolitan Police officer, Detective Sergeant Prakash Patel, was charged with five counts of sexual assault involving four women known to him.

Following an investigation by the Met Police, the case was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which authorised the charges on September 4. Singh was suspended from duty after his arrest.
