A Central District police officer was patrolling the area when he heard gunshots near Caroline and Fayette streets. He turned the corner and found multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds, including the three-year-old boy.

It shared a picture from the site and wrote, “The Baltimore Police Department is currently on the scene of a shooting involving multiple victims in the 1400 block of East Fayette Street.

The boy was rushed to hospital in a patrol car and underwent surgery, police said. Police said six victims were taken to an area hospital by medics. Videos circulating from the aftermath of the incident show first response arrived at the location as the police has shut down the area with security tapes. The Baltimore Police also shared about the incident in a post on X. Both Fayette and Caroline Streets are blocked off. More information to follow when it becomes available. A three-year-old boy was among seven people shot in Baltimore on Wednesday night, with a police officer finding the victims shortly after 9pm near the intersection of Caroline and Fayette streets.

Officers immediately took the child to hospital in a patrol car, where he went into surgery. Other officers stayed at the scene to assist the remaining victims.
