Gurinder Gill, Jasmine Gill
Gurinder Gill , 28, was arrested on October 14 and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on a murder charge, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said. A California man has been charged with murdering his estranged wife after her burned remains were found in El Dorado County, with investigators saying he falsely claimed that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents had taken her into custody.
Family seeks support for infant son
His wife, Jasmine Gill, 30, was last seen at their Sacramento residence on September 30. A family member reported her missing on October 4. Her family has launched a fundraiser to help cover the costs of returning her remains to India for funeral arrangements, caring for her son and meeting legal expenses.
Jasmine was a registered nurse and the mother of an eight-month-old boy.
The sheriff’s office said investigators subsequently “identified several inconsistencies” in Gurinder’s statements about his wife’s disappearance. They also discovered that the couple were going through divorce proceedings and a child custody dispute.
During the initial investigation, Gurinder told authorities that “Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents had taken Jasmine into custody while she was checking the mail at their residence. Further investigation led authorities to burned human remains in El Dorado County.
