“All of those have been against us for years before, and we’ve won.

You can’t blame media, you can’t blame academia, you can’t blame Hollywood,” Haley said. Haley said voters repeatedly raised concerns about the cost of living, including high grocery bills, fuel prices and healthcare expenses, but Republicans failed to address them. “And while the American people were saying groceries are high, gas is high, healthcare is high, you’re not listening,” she said. “What you saw in DC was self-dealing and corruption and celebrating,” she said. Urging her party to regroup rather than dwell on the defeat, Haley said: “Get a good night’s sleep, take our medicine, and let’s get to work. “This can shift in two years, but you have got to start focusing on what the American people want and not these issues in D.C. that nobody cares about,” she said. “Now, for our Democrats: you can celebrate, but be careful what you wish for,” she said, pointing to the election of several candidates she described as democratic socialists.

Former US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has urged Republicans to accept responsibility for their sweeping losses in the midterm elections, saying the party failed to listen to voters and focus on their everyday concerns. “To my fellow Republicans, this is not the time to whine, complain, or point fingers. The bottom line is, Republicans didn’t listen to the American people; they listened to Washington, DC,” she added. She also criticized what she described as a culture of self-interest and corruption in Washington, saying Republican leaders had become disconnected from the concerns of ordinary Americans. Haley also had a warning for Democrats, who made significant gains in the midterm elections.

She argued that Republicans could recover before the next election cycle but would have to shift their focus towards issues that matter to voters. Appearing on NBC’s Today show on Wednesday, Haley told Republicans not to blame the media, academia or Hollywood for the defeat, arguing that these institutions had opposed the party for years but had not prevented it from winning elections in the past.
