Top technology executives have signed an agreement with US President Donald Trump promising stronger safeguards for increasingly powerful artificial intelligence systems. But despite the document being signed by some of the biggest names in the tech industry, a basic spelling mistake in Trump’s title went unnoticed, which drew widespread mockery online.
The document, titled the “White House Accord on Super Intelligence”, identifies Trump as the “President of the Unites States”, instead of the “United States”. The signatories included Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI president Greg Brockman, xAI CEO Elon Musk and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. Trump has also promoted the term “super intelligence” as his preferred description for AI. On Tuesday, he signed an executive order directing the federal government to replace references to “artificial intelligence” and “AI” with “super intelligence” or “SI”. The White House had not immediately commented on the spelling error or said whether a corrected version of the accord would be issued.
