Nashik: Four migrant workers were killed and six others seriously injured after a pickup carrying road construction workers crashed into the side wall of an underpass and overturned on the Nashik-Pune highway near Dodi village in Sinnar taluka in the early hours of Saturday. The accident occurred around 3am when the workers were returning from a road construction site. After travelling barely five kilometres from the worksite, the pickup approached an underpass near Dodi village. Download the TOI App.
Purushottam Bhatjire, an ambulance driver and functionary of the Shiv Sena Vaidyakiya Madat Kaksha in Sinnar, said, “I received the call at around 3.10am. The deceased were identified as Md Bisu Asamuddin (25), Sajeman Ali Sajibur Rahman (21) and Khurshid Alim Abdul Rahim (19), all natives of Malda in West Bengal, and Abdul Mohammad Hussain Kalam (22) from Kishanganj in Bihar. One worker died on the spot. Two others succumbed to their injuries while being taken to hospital. A fourth victim died during treatment. The six injured workers are undergoing treatment at private hospitals in Nashik. Along with fellow ambulance drivers Munna Pathan, Ganesh Gaikwad and Rushi Gade, we rushed to the spot and shifted the victims to different hospitals.
