The aircraft, which travel at speeds of around 600 kmph, took just 15 minutes to reach Mysuru from Yelahanka in Bengaluru, highlighting their speed and operational efficiency. “We carried out nearly 18 manoeuvres today, and the weather was pleasant.

Wing Commander Abhimanyu Tyagi said the team was delighted to perform before the Mysuru audience. Tyagi said weather conditions were crucial to the duration and complexity of every display, as low clouds and poor visibility could restrict manoeuvres. It is among only four teams in the world capable of performing nine-aircraft displays and the only such team in Asia,” Tyagi said.

The performance came as a welcome relief to aviation enthusiasts after unfavourable weather conditions forced the team to restrict its Sunday display to just three basic horizontal manoeuvres. Mysuru has been a wonderful audience,” he added. The successful Monday performance, following Sunday’s weather-related setback, once again highlighted the skill, discipline and teamwork of the IAF pilots. The team performed several intricate formations, including the DNA, heart, Valkyrie and Arrow, demonstrating the pilots’ ability to maintain precise formations while manoeuvring their aircraft at high speeds. The aircraft, painted in red and white, also created striking coloured smoke trails that added to the visual appeal of the performance. “The team currently operates Hawk advanced jet trainer aircraft specially used for aerobatic displays.

Improved weather conditions on Monday enabled the pilots to execute a more comprehensive routine, drawing appreciation from the large gathering.

The coloured smoke system is a specialised modification undertaken by the IAF’s 11 Base Repair Depot. The team comprises 18 officers, including 13 pilots, three engineering officers, a commentator and a medical officer. Overnight rain and cloudy skies forced the Indian Air Force team to delay Sunday’s Dasara air show by 45 minutes and limit its performance to three basic horizontal manoeuvres, leaving the crowd waiting for the full display.
