A woman named Seema succumbed to injuries sustained while intervening in a dispute involving her son.
Police have arrested the neighbour, identified as Satish Lamba (30), while a counter-case has been registered against the woman’s son and his two friends for allegedly attacking Lamba with a knife. The incident took place near a chowk in Old Roshanpura on the night of October 15. A PCR call reporting a knife attack near house number 121 was received at Najafgarh police station at around 11.49pm, according to Delhi Police. Police said their inquiry revealed that Lamba was standing with his friends near the chowk around 11.15pm when Dhruv Rishi, son of Seema and Kamal Rishi, arrived on a motorcycle with his friends Afjal and Dev Bakshi. On Kamal’s complaint, police registered an FIR on October 16 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and arrested Lamba the same day.
Dhruv said police had arrested one of the accused, while the other two were still at large. “We aren’t asking for anything specific; we just want justice,” he said. Police said further investigation into both cases was underway.
Dhruv allegedly started abusing Lamba, triggering a scuffle during which Dhruv allegedly took out a knife and stabbed Lamba in his left thigh. He alleged that three men attacked the family with a knife. After Lamba’s statement and a review of his medico-legal report, police also registered a separate case against Dhruv and his friends for allegedly causing injuries to him.
