Police said she left her grandparents’ home at Karumangazhani in Sriperumbudur to meet her mother in Jharkhand. Chennai: After three days of intense search, police have traced the eight-year-old girl, who went missing from Karumangazhani village near Sriperumbudur, to a children’s home at Kellys.

Based on their complaint, Sriperumbudur police registered a case and launched a search operation.

Some residents told police that they saw the girl standing with a bag at the Araneri bus stop. Police combed CCTV footage and said she boarded a bus to Poonamallee. Police said the child had boarded two buses and reached the railway station to leave for Jharkhand and meet her mother.

When she didn’t return home, her relatives searched several places. Police formed five special teams and used drones and a sniffer dog to trace her. Meanwhile, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel found a child standing unattended at Chennai Central railway station. Since they couldn’t find her parents, they lodged her at a children’s home at Kelly’s.

Police said the girl left her house on Friday and was allegedly seen walking near the national highway. On Tuesday, the special teams learned about this and, following inquiries, confirmed the child to be Besty.
