Prayagraj: With more than 1.13 lakh candidates scheduled to appear for PET-2026 in Prayagraj on Oct 25, 30 and Nov 1, North Central Railway’s Prayagraj division has prepared a special operating plan to manage the expected rush of examinees. The exam will be held in two shifts, from 10am to noon and 3pm to 5pm, on all three days.

“The arrangements would be implemented according to the passenger load to ensure smooth movement of candidates without disrupting regular train operations,” said PRO, Prayagraj division, Amit Kumar Singh. The railway has planned special unreserved trains, additional halts, extension of existing services and changes in timings wherever required to facilitate candidates travelling to and returning from examination centres. Train 01821, a 12-coach unreserved special, will leave Prayagraj Junction at 7:45pm on Oct 24, 29 and 31 and reach Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi at 5:15am the next day. Train 01823 will depart Kanpur Central at 8pm on the same three dates and reach Mathura Junction at 3:10am the following day. Two important one-way exam specials have been planned. It will benefit candidates travelling from Kanpur, Phaphund, Etawah, Shikohabad, Firozabad, Tundla and adjoining areas. Additional special trains will also be arranged in coordination with the Prayagraj, Jhansi and Agra divisions and other concerned railway divisions. Services may be operated to destinations including Kanpur Central, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Lucknow, Mathura and Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi depending on passenger demand. The division has also kept provisions for extending the routes of nine regular trains, including services on the Kanpur Central-Fatehpur, Etawah-Kanpur Central and Kanpur Central-Tundla sections. Timings of three trains on the Kanpur Central-Lucknow, Kanpur Central-Raebareli and Kanpur Central-Khajuraho sections may also be changed as required.
The service will help candidates reach their destinations a day before the examination.
