MOMO announced a move into a 16,000-square-foot brewery to expand production
MOMO, a kombucha brand founded by a London couple in their kitchen in 2018, took over a new 16,000-square-foot site in Herne Hill, South London. The South London business said the new location and equipment would increase production capacity from 60,000 bottles per week to 300,000 bottles per week, giving the business more room to innovate and expand as of July 2026. MOMO took over the former Brixton Brewery site in Herne Hill, close to where Josh and Lisa Puddle started their business from their home in 2018.
Co-founder Josh Puddle said the move would bring the business back to its south-east London roots. He said, “Lisa and I started Momo with a clear aim to produce the UK’s best-tasting and highest-quality kombucha. The move was set to bring the business back near its roots, just a couple of minutes from where founders Josh and Lisa Puddle started the company. The new site, formerly occupied by Brixton Brewery, included dedicated fermentation space, a laboratory and a kitchen. The company had spent seven years brewing its kombucha at New Covent Garden Market.

Its founders established the business in their kitchen in 2018 with the aim of producing high-quality kombucha for the UK market.
The company said the work would help prevent supplies from running out during the changeover. The company had received a Great Taste Award for its kombucha. The move to Herne Hill was intended to give the team more room to develop its products and expand production. The move required the team to prepare enough stock to cover the transition while shifting production facilities. MOMO also planned to share updates on the move through its Instagram account, allowing customers to follow the process as operations returned to South London.
