The bridge is a key component of a Rs 13-crore riverside tourism development project aimed at transforming the town’s urban landscape and boosting its tourism potential. The first phase involved the construction of the hanging bridge at a cost of Rs 5 crore, sanctioned under the Centre’s Amrut scheme. The renovation of Dreamland Park, which covers more than 4.5 acres, is also part of the initiative. The park is being upgraded at a cost of Rs 50 lakh, with the focus on preserving the natural landscape.

Kochi: The construction of the hanging bridge across the Thodupuzha River in Muvattupuzha has entered its final stage, with authorities expecting to open it to the public this year. The project is being implemented in two phases under the leadership of Muvattupuzha municipality. The bridge connects Dreamland Park to the Petta area across the river and runs parallel to the existing Latha Bridge. The second phase aims to develop the riverfront into a major tourist attraction. The proposed facilities include a scenic riverside walkway extending to Kacherithazham, a watchtower, a museum and a cafeteria. Solar-powered boats are also planned to offer visitors boat rides along the river. The project seeks to enhance Muvattupuzha’s appeal as a tourist destination by offering visitors opportunities to experience the natural beauty of the river and its surroundings. The existing rock formations, bamboo groves and small hillocks are being retained as part of the nature-friendly development approach.
