Mumbai Crime Branch has requested additional custody for four accused related to an October 18 shooting incident

MUMBAI: The Mumbai Crime Branch has sought further police custody of four accused — Radha Sunil Verma (21), Babita Ramjatan Rao (24), Kunal Sanjay Kumar (21) and Sumit Bijender Sarolia (19) — in connection with the October 18 firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff in Juhu. The four accused were arrested on October 20 and remanded in police custody until October 26. The Crime Branch has sought an additional eight days of custody to investigate their alleged roles and establish links with the other accused. Investigators want to examine the communications, obtain voice samples and question the accused alongside other arrested persons to establish the sequence of events and their respective roles. Police are also investigating allegations that the female accused used fake identities and documents to book hotel rooms in Mumbai. Investigators want to establish why they visited various locations in the city and whether they conducted reconnaissance or shared information about potential targets. The remand application further states that investigators are trying to trace the source of the firearms, identify those who financed the operation and determine who recruited the accused into the alleged criminal network. Police also suspect that the network may have been involved in other firing incidents, including an alleged attack on a businessman in Panipat.

The Crime Branch told the court that the extraction of data from mobile phones had revealed WhatsApp chats and audio clips allegedly connected to the crime.

The case involves an alleged interstate criminal network, with accused persons from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, according to investigators. The investigation has also focused on the alleged involvement of Anil Pandit, described in the remand application as a key conspirator.
