Lucknow: The state cabinet on Tuesday approved 9.5 hectares of free land for Sainik School in Mainpuri to facilitate infrastructure expansion.
Finance and parliamentary affairs minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that the additional land is required to facilitate pending construction and development works at the institution. “Two high-voltage power transmission lines pass through the existing school campus, rendering a significant portion of the available land unsuitable for construction activities,” he said. New facilities will be created for cadets, while additional amenities for teaching and non-teaching staff will also be developed, said a govt spokesperson.
The identified new land will first be placed under the secondary education department and will subsequently be transferred free of cost to the Sainik School Society. The decision will accelerate the development of essential infrastructure within the school campus.
The school was facing a shortage of usable land as two high-tension electricity transmission lines pass through its existing campus, making it unsuitable for construction activities. The new land in Nauner village in Mainpuri district comes under the defence ministry and will now be transferred to the Sainik School for carrying out various activities.
