Union minister J P Nadda, along with Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel and deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi, takes part in the “Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao” (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) foot march, in Ahmedabad on Tuesday
He alleged that the Congress accepted election results as the people’s mandate when it won but questioned the Election Commission whenever it lost.
The BJP said the event was aimed at countering what it described as misleading propaganda by the Congress and the INDIA bloc against the electoral system. Addressing party workers, Nadda said several countries viewed India’s electoral process and the Election Commission as models of democratic functioning. Defending the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Nadda said the exercise was necessary to remove duplicate, deceased, shifted and otherwise ineligible voters. He said such verification drives were not new and had been undertaken under previous govts as well.
His remarks came as the BJP held a ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ march in Ahmedabad. The march was organised in Nava Vadaj in the presence of chief minister Bhupendra Patel and minister of state for home Harsh Sanghavi. He also urged the Congress to submit evidence before competent authorities instead of making allegations against constitutional institutions.
Gandhinagar : Union minister and former BJP national president J P Nadda on Tuesday accused the Congress of weakening the credibility of constitutional institutions and the Election Commission by questioning electoral processes after election defeats.
