Police said Manoj Chauhan (25) was returning from his aunt’s house in Ramnagar area of Varanasi on a motorcycle with his mother, Munni Devi (45), and his three-year-old nephew, Shreyansh. Varanasi: Three members of a family were killed in a road accident in the Narayanpur area of Mirzapur district near the Aloo Mill under the Adalhat police station limits on Wednesday morning.
The bodies were sent for post mortem and police said legal action is being taken based on a complaint filed by Manoj’s father, Ramesh Chandra Chauhan. The motorcycle slipped near a pothole on that road and an unidentified heavy vehicle coming from behind ran over the three riders. All three died on the spot. The driver fled with the heavy vehicle after the accident. The victims were residents of Patti Kalan in the Ahraura police station area of Mirzapur. Manoj, the youngest of three brothers, worked as a tile mason. Narayanpur police identified the victims using the motorcycle’s registration details. The village head of Patti Kalan was contacted and the family was informed. Efforts are underway to trace the unidentified vehicle and its driver.
