Nashik : Kumbh Mela minister Girish Mahajan on Thursday assured seers that all key works linked to the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela, including Ramkund, Sadhugram and sewage infrastructure projects, will be completed before the main bathing dates. “Although the Dhwajarohan ceremony will be held on Oct 31, there are still nine months to go for the first and second Amrit Snans in Aug and the third in September.

All works will be completed before the Amrit Snan days and no work will remain incomplete,” Mahajan said.

Mahajan said works worth around Rs 2,200 crore were underway, including new sewage treatment plants and sewer lines aimed at preventing sewage from entering the Godavari.

The minister said all necessary facilities would be provided to sadhus arriving for the Kumbh and insisted that the government was working to meet deadlines. If the works are not improved, we may have to rethink the Nashik Simhastha,” Sanjaydas said after inspecting Ramkund. On the contentious issue of tree felling at Tapovan, Mahajan said govt would abide by court directions. If the court directs us not to remove the trees, we will not do so,” he said.

“We will not do anything wrong. We will follow the court’s order.
