The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Gandhinagar : The Gujarat govt has expanded the Sardar Patel Good Governance CM Fellowship programme, increasing the number of fellows from 41 to 47 and nearly doubling the number of projects from 20 to 45. The move aims to strengthen youth participation in governance and improve the implementation of govt schemes through research-based policy support.

The programme will also contribute to evidence-based policy research supporting the state’s Viksit Gujarat@2047 vision, while undertaking projects related to municipal service delivery in Rajkot and waste recycling initiatives in Bhavnagar.

The expanded programme will cover sectors such as education, healthcare, nutrition, agriculture, social development, urban administration, environment, and public administration, according to an official statement. Under the revised framework issued by the general administration department (GAD), IIM Ahmedabad will continue as the programme’s knowledge partner. The fellowship seeks to engage young professionals with strong research and analytical skills in state administration for one to two years, enabling them to assess policies, identify implementation gaps, and suggest improvements. Fellows will study issues ranging from anganwadi services, anaemia reduction and child education to the expansion of centralised kitchens under the PM POSHAN and ICDS programmes.
