The accused allegedly misappropriated Rs 3.92 crore that was earmarked for the production of Naagzilla. In a significant ruling, a Dindoshi sessions court has denied bail for three individuals entangled in a film financing case. The presiding judge pointed to prima facie evidence that justifies custodial interrogation for a thorough investigation. Allegations against the trio include serious charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust, and forgery concerning financial dealings.
Mumbai: Observing that the alleged unaccounted utilisation of Rs 3.92 crore in the production of Hindi film “Naagzilla” involved “huge money” and required custodial interrogation, a Dindoshi sessions court rejected the anticipatory bail pleas of consultant Kuldeep Singh Champawat, line producer Shivkumar Tiwari and executive producer Mahipal Rathore in a cheating, criminal breach of trust and forgery case registered by D N Nagar police. Rejecting the applications, the court said the allegations showed that “the offence involved financial transaction and it involves huge money”. Additional Sessions Judge M Mohiuddin MA held that there was prima facie material against the three applicants and that their custodial interrogation was necessary for a detailed investigation into the financial transactions.
