With the November 10 trade deadline approaching, Stefon Diggs has emerged as an intriguing option. Sports Illustrated insider Albert Breer recently suggested that Kansas City should consider making a move for the Washington Commanders wideout, who signed a one-year, $12 million contract this season. The Commanders are 1-4-1, but their situation at wide receiver makes a trade difficult.

“The one that’s fascinating to me is whether you can get Stefon Diggs out of Washington,” Breer said during the appearance. The Kansas City Chiefs may need another reliable receiver to help Patrick Mahomes get their passing game back on track. The suggestion comes after the Chiefs managed just three points against the Seattle Seahawks. Their offense struggled to sustain drives and create explosive plays. Diggs offers something different While Rashee Rice’s return could provide some relief. He has experience working with quarterbacks who extend plays and can find receivers outside the original passing plan. Speaking on The Herd with Colin Cowherd recently, Breer discussed the possibility of Kansas City acquiring Diggs. However, he admitted that Washington might not be ready to let the veteran leave. Terry McLaurin is out for the season, leaving Diggs with an important role in the offense. Still, Breer believes the receiver’s playing style would suit Mahomes. Both quarterbacks can extend plays and give their receivers extra time to get open.

Diggs previously played alongside Josh Allen with the Buffalo Bills and Drake Maye with the New England Patriots.

Rice recorded 13 catches for 190 yards and one touchdown in four games before his injury. The Chiefs have until November 10 to explore the trade market.

“[Diggs] is such a smart player, and he’s so good in space and at finding dead spots in zones,” Breer added. That ability could help Mahomes, particularly when defenses force him to move outside the pocket. Diggs knows how to adjust his routes and find openings when a play breaks down. Breer believes that skill could make him a valuable addition to Andy Reid’s offense. Diggs is not the only potential solution to Kansas City’s receiving problems. The Chiefs also received encouraging news about Rashee Rice, who returned to practice as a limited participant after missing two games with a hamstring injury. Speaking about Rice’s potential return, Mahomes explained what the young receiver brings to the offense in comments shared by KC Sports Network. He remains questionable for the Chiefs’ matchup against the Denver Broncos. His return could give Mahomes some much-needed support and reduce the pressure on Kansas City’s other receivers. However, the offense still needs more consistency. Diggs could offer an experienced option, but Washington’s need for receivers makes a deal difficult. For now, Kansas City must decide whether Rice’s return is enough or if Mahomes needs another established target. Get the latest Sports News and Live updates. Download the TOI app.
